Legendary director, Kalathapaswi Vishwanath is no more

He passed away on February 2 (Thursday) around 11.30 pm due to old age related diseases. Kalathapasvi's death left the Telugu film industry in a state of shock. His close relatives, friends and well-wishers were deeply saddened by his death. A milestone in the history of Telugu cinema!

K. Vishwanath is the person who created famous movies and brought respect and recognition to Telugu cinema. He entered the film industry as a sound recordist and worked as an assistant director for some years under Adurthi Subbarao. Vishwanath turned director with Akkineni starrer Atma Harman. The film won the Nandi Award from the state government. The most famous film in his film career is 'Shankarabharanam'.It won a national award. His paintings in the context of Indian art are Sankarabharanam, Sagarasangam, Srutilayalu, Sirivennela, Swarnakamalam and Swatikiranam. Among his films dealing with social issues, Saptapadi, Swathimuthyam, Swayamkrishi, Shubhodayam, Shubholekha, Apadbandhavudu and Shubhasankalpa are important.

Music plays a very important role in Vishwanath's films. He mostly chose KV Mahadevan and Ilayaraja as music directors for his films. Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Kelucharan Mahapatra and Sharon Lowen worked with famous artists in some films. At the end of his career, he reduced his directorial duties and entertained the audience as an actor.
